Our Practice, Our Promise

Why this clinic exists, and what we believe about change.

A practice built on a simple conviction: people can change — and they change most reliably inside a relationship that feels safe.

A lifelong passion

This work was never a career decision alone. Long before it had a name or a credential attached to it, there was a pull toward people’s inner lives — and that pull has never quietened.

Genuine curiosity

No two people arrive the same way. We come to every conversation more interested in understanding you than in fitting you to a category, because the details of your story are where the meaning lives.

Always still learning

Our field keeps moving, and so do we. Ongoing training, consultation, and reflection are not boxes we tick — they are how we keep offering care that is current, considered, and worthy of your trust.

Change through safe connection

People change in relationship. When someone feels genuinely safe, accepted, and unhurried, something loosens — and what once felt fixed becomes possible to move.

Where this practice began

Talk To Your Counsellor grew out of a question that has followed me for as long as I can remember: what actually helps a person change? Not change in the sense of becoming somebody else — but the quieter, sturdier kind. The kind where someone begins to trust their own judgement again. Where words finally arrive for something carried silently for years. Where an old pattern is recognised as something that once kept you safe, and no longer needs to run the show.

I founded this practice to make room for that kind of change, and to do it properly: unhurried, evidence-based, and deeply respectful of the person in front of us.

How we understand our work

We believe people are not problems to be solved. Everyone arrives already carrying strengths, insight, and a history of getting through difficult things — often without anyone noticing. Much of counselling is simply making those resources visible again, and then building on them.

We also believe that safety comes first. Not as a slogan, but as a practical condition. Insight rarely arrives while a person is bracing. When the relationship feels steady enough, reflection becomes possible, and change tends to follow on its own.

Every person holds the capacity to transform their world into what they wish it to be. Our work is to walk beside you while you find it.

Our standards

We are Registered Clinical Counsellors with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) and practise in accordance with its code of ethical conduct and standards of clinical practice. What you share in session is confidential, within the limits required by law — and we explain those limits clearly, in plain language, before we begin.

All sessions are remote, by secure video, and we offer counselling in English, Farsi, and Dari.
